ABOUT THE COMMUNITY IMPACT FUND
The Community Impact Fund is United Way of Logan County's method to provide one-time support at ANY time of the year to programs that serve Logan County. It is particularly designed to support emerging needs and emergencies. Click here to review the Community Impact Fund policy.
Programs to receive United Way funding should further our mission to support the health, education, and financial stability of every person in Logan County.
2024 COMMUNITY IMPACT FUND GRANTS
$57,905 was awarded in 2024 via 11 grants to the following organizations.
- Buckeye Gospel Barn - $7,215 for food pantry supplies, freezer, and boxes.
- Dr. Earl Sloan Library- $3,000 for a Summer Mental Health Youth Program - a program that facilitates the practice of positive mental health techniques geared toward children ages 2-17 through a six week wellness series.
- Friendly Senior Center - $3,340 to support the cost of refurbishing the Activity Room.
- International Friendship Center - $500 to support the Suzuka Exchange Trip.
- Logan County Family Court - $5,000 toward a Car Repair program.
- Logan County Fair - $1,250 - for event sponsorship and support of the annual Livestock Auction.
- Logan County Sherriff's Office - $15,000 in support of the Jail Mental Health program. This program provides mental health services to inmates housed in the Logan County Jail.
- Mary Rutan Foundation - $12,500 to support the Dispensary o Hope. A program that serves as the organization in Logan County that provides prescription medications for uninsured, low income and chronically ill patients.
- Recovery Zone - $3,500 for the purchase of Emergency Winter Survival Kits
- Think Tank - $1,600 - to conduct two Cost of Poverty Experiences through the year. One of these was for all staff Benjamin Logan Schools and and one on a professional development day.
- West Liberty Lion's Club - $5,000 to support the cost of the Lion's Park Restroom Renovation.
APPLYING FOR THE COMMUNITY IMPACT FUND
Funding priority will be given to programs that align with United Way's Strategic Plan and the Community Needs Assessment. Areas of emphasis include programs that:
- Reduce the negative impact of substance abuse in Logan County
- Reduce poverty and increase self-sufficiency and financial wellness
- Provide long-term, coordinated help for people with rent, utilities, and housing
- Strengthen and stabilize the local workforce
- Address mental health
- Keep children safe and healthy
- Serve the aging population
- Promote healthy living
- Provide access to Resources
There is no deadline to apply. But our Allocations Committee meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month (at 7:30 a.m. here in our office). Applications received a week in advance of the 2nd Wednesday can be considered that month. You and/or a representative from the applying organization would be invited to attend the meeting to make your case for your project and for the committee to ask questions they may have. They deliberate and make a funding recommendation to the full Board of Trustees, which meets the 4th Tuesday of each month. We let you know the outcome the next day. If awarded funds, recipient organizations will be required to complete a Funded Program Report upon the expenditure of United Way dollars.
