The United Way Board of Trustees recently approved $580,000 in funding recommendations that will support the work of 20 Funded Agencies in Logan County in 2024. This completes the work of United Way's Allocations Committee, and divides donor dollars from the 2023 Campaign among 26 programs that support the health, education, and financial stability of Logan County residents.
Agency requests exceeded the amount available by 29%. Yet 16 of the 26 programs will receive what was requested, with two programs receiving increased support over 2023 funding.
2024 Agency Allocations are as follows:
- Bellefontaine Police Department - $5,000 for their community outreach events that build relationships that help reduce crime, drugs, etc.
- Caring Kitchen - $25,000 to this Urbana-based homeless shelter to serve as overflow when our shelter is full.

Priority was considered for programs that align with United Way's Strategic Plan and the Community Needs Assessment. Areas of emphasis include programs that:
- Address mental health
- Reduce the negative impact of substance abuse in Logan County
- Provide long-term, coordinated help for people with rent, utilities, and affordable housing
- Strengthen and stabilize the local workforce
- Promote healthy living
- Reduce poverty and increase self-sufficiency and financial wellness
- Enhance educational opportunities
- Keep children safe and healthy
- Serve the aging population
- Provide Access to Health Care
2024 Agency Allocations are only a portion of United Way's overall community support. Internal programming that we operate, grant funding that will be awarded through the course of the year, and designations that are directed elsewhere by individual and corporate donors will account for well over $300,000 in additional United Way impact in 2024.
