ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST - PART TIME

Overview
The Accounting Specialist works in conjunction with the Executive Director, the Board Treasurer, and Finance Committee volunteers to ensure that the financial records of United Way of Logan County are kept in a legal manner and conform to the needs of the organization.  Provides general office support as needed.  Confidentiality and integrity of employee and donor records are required.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Maintain all accounting records
  • Data entry of donor pledges and payments  
  • Prepare and deliver bank deposits
  • Prepare accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions
  • Process payroll and complete tax requirements
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for United Way Board and committees
  • Assist with and provide audit support
  • Assist with organization’s activities, meetings, and events 
  • Perform general office duties, such as answering the phone, taking messages, and filing
  • Restock office supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Knowledge

  • Bookkeeping / accounting experience required.  Includes Quickbooks, Intuit, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher)
  • Familiarity with data entry software (training provided on Donation Tracker software)
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills for working with a variety of people and organizations
  • Accuracy and attention to detail

Salary and Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule, 20 hours per week.  Hours may vary on seasonal basis due to increased workflow.
  • Hourly rate based on experience.
  • 40 hours of Paid Time Off annually, accrued per pay period and pro-rated during first year.  
  • 4% of annual base pay to contribute to an investment account of your choice.
